Oruru-Peria Women’s Institute

The monthly meeting of the Oru-ru-Peria Women’s Institute was held in the home of Mrs. Kelsall on May Bth, . The President, Mrs. Barriball, welcomed the members and a visitor, Mrs. Brown. A lengthy correspondence list was discussed, especially the suggestions from the Federation meeting regarding the competition shows in November and March. . Mrs. J. Forsyth gave a very able demonstration on the cutting and making of small boys’ pants. This was followed intently by a number of the members. Afternoon tea was then served and much enjoyed, being followed by a fascinating demonstration by Mrs. Finley on the making of ' dolls’ masks ; this was watched with great interest and members were very keen to try their nands at doll mak- ' ing. Small daughters and granddaughters should gain by .this. A ‘ I bring and buy was held in aid of

funds and netted the sum of £lB- 13/2. A vote of thanks to Mrs. Kelsall and her daughter, Mrs. R. May, concluded a very interesting meeting.
