Mangonui County Hospital Rate

\ auler-General to Collect 6Jd. in £ By advertisement in this issue, the ValueA-Gemeral gives notice of his intention to make and jevy « nospital rate of 61d. in the £ on the unimproved value of all rateable property in the Mangonui County for the year commencing April 1, 1945. The rate will be due and payable in o ne sum on the 14th day of January, 1946, at any post office or to the Valuation Department, Auckland. In view of the recent action of the County Council in notifying its intention to strike a hospital rate of 21d. in (lie £, this move by the ValuerGer.eral came as rather a surprise, stated the Chairman, Mr. F. Holder. A meeting of the Council is to be held on December 18, and perhaps by then more information may be available, but in the meantime action is being taken in an effort to stay the Valuer-General’s hand until the Government has more fully considered the County’s position.
