FAREWELL TO MR. AND MRS. E. TAYLOR AND FAMILY Garton’s Hall was packed with residents of Oruru and the surrounding districts las! Wednesday night, when a farewell dance was tendered Mr. and Mrs. Eric Taylor and family, and Miss Mclnnes, who have sold their business and are leaving the district. After an excellent supper Mr. Allan Garton spoke of the great help Mr. and Mrs. Taylor had been to the district, having been actively associated with the Methodist Church, the Oruru School and School Committee, the Patriotic Committee and all social ac.' tivities. Mr. C. Barriball supported Mr. Garton, saying that the guests of the evening, who have had the responsibility of the Post Office in their care, had been always ready to deliver urgent messages and telegrams at all hours of the day or nightsomething g-reatly appreciated by the residents. Mr. Brown spoke on behalf of Mangonui residents and a Maori chorus sang a farewell song which was much appreciated by all present. A presentation was made to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor and family, and also to Miss Mclnnes. Mr. Taylor replied. Opportunity was taken to welcome the “new people,” Mr. and Mrs. Botliwell. Bouquets were presented to Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Bothwell and Miss Mclnnes. During the evening Mrs. Barriball, on behalf of the dance committee, presented Mrs. Simelhay with a posy and .a teaset, in appreciation of the services rendered in the playing of dance music on many occasions. Music for dancing was provided by Mrs. Simelhay, Miss C. Garton, Mrs. T. Garton and Mr. J. Knox.
