PATRIOTIC EVENING AT FAIRBURNS
A social evening with a bring and buy was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Foster recently. A good number of friends were present and the time passed quickly in the usual way, with cards, games, competitions, etc. After a dainty supper had been served, the many and varied gifts of produce, cakes and poultry were sold by auction. The result was beyond all expectation, for with donations and the proceeds of the sale the very gratifying sum of £29 was realised. Mr. T. J. Coulter, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, thanked Mr. Metcalfe for his services as auctioneer, also all those who had in any way contributed to the success of the evening, and Mr. and Mrs. Foster for the use of their home. The next patriotic evening is to be held at Mr. and Mrs. A. Tracey’s residence on September Ist.
