MANGONUI PATRIOTIC BRING AND BUY
A very successful bring and buy evening was held on Saturday night in McKay’s Hall, Mangonui, in aid of patriotic funds, and the very handsome amount of £57 13/0 was l'aised. All things were auctioned and bidding throughout the whole of the evening was very brisk. Cakes, sweets, vegetables, and all other contributions brought high prices. Competitions were won by the following: Pair of Dressed Ducks Mrs. J. Woods; Cream Sandwich Mrs. J. McCullough; Fruit Cake—Mrs. Richmond. Messrs. J. Feisst, W. Subritzky, and Miss M. Wilton were in charge of the auctioning, and Miss P. Wrathall was in chai'ge of the sweets. Dancing followed until midnight, voluntary music being supplied by Mesdames Simelhay, Subritzky and Pte. Stan. Harris. Mr. G. Berghan acted at M.C. This is a wonderful achievement, and all are to be thanked for their very willing help and assistance in making this evening the success it was.
