The Germans are the most spec-tacle-wearing nation in the world. The Americans come next, with the British third. * From a police court report in the “Thames Valley Times” (Eng.): “Mr. Cresswell submitted that it had been decided in the High Court that to call a person a cow was not abusive because the cow was a clean animal.” * A backfatter pig was sold for £lO- - at an auction at Lismore (N. S.W.) recently, said to be the highest price reached by that class of pig. In 1917 a Lismore firm of auctioneers sold four bacon pigs at £lO 4/6 each and about then a Sydney firm paid more than £2OO for 25 bacon pigs at a sale at Murwillumbah (N. S. W.).
