At the lr.st executive meeting o the Auckland Farmers’ Union held o: June 17th, Mr. R. R. Blade brought U] Ihe question of improving the tele phone facilities in the North Auck land area. Now that transport facll, ties were so resticted the use of th telephone was more essential tha ever, but with the Armed Forces hav ing priority over the toll lines settler often had to wait for hours seekini to get a connection. He was advise* that it was not a question of fres material, which all knew was scare* but of technical alterations in the sys tern, which local post masters ha sought, but without success. It wa decided to make representations t the Government on the matter.
