Mangonui Neivs

Purely Personal Mrs. H. G. Bright of the Mangonui Hotel is at present spending a short time in Auckland. Messrs. McMahon and Goodhue both spent the weekend in Mangonui. Mr. V. Noble Beasley of Wellington spent Sunday at his home in Cable Bay. Messrs. John and Ken Hussy of We’lington, who are spending a week or so in Mangonui, are staying at the Old Oak. Mr. Walter McKay and party visited Mangonui for the weekend. Farewell to Private M. YVrathall Private Mervyn Wrathall was tendered a farewell dance last Thursday night in McKay’s hall. As it was impossible for Private YVrathall to spend more of his military leave in ihe district, opportunity had to be taken after the pictures. A very jolly gathering attended and a couple of pleasant hours were spent. Mr. J. Feisst was m.c., and voluntary music was supplied by Mesdames Reid, Subritzky, Misses Mavis and Beryl Wrathall and Mr. Stan Harris. After supper Mr. D. J. McKay, on behalf of the public, spoke in his usual glowing terms of the lads in the Forces, and presented Mervyn with an envelope, wishing him good luck and a safe return. Mervyn in a few words suitably responded, and “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and “God Save the King” brought a very pleasant little evening to a close.
