Scottish Society’s Ingleside

A very well attended Scottish Society Ingleside took place in the Masonic Hall on Saturday evening, the younger members of the Society being in charge of the programme. The meeting was begun by all present standing as a mark of respect to the late Prime Minister, Mr. M. J. Savage, and also to Mr. T. Maugham of Victoria Valley, who was a veteran member of the Society. The name of Mr. A. McGregor, who had suffered a bereavement recently was also included. Dancing and at least one very notable competition interspersed the many items and all enjoyed themselves thoroughly. A display of Highland dancing was given by a number of junior members. Items and contributors included : Song Miss Gladys Cowie ; Flute solo —Mr. Coleman Spitz ; Song Mr. Maxwell ; Pianoforte solo-—Mrs. Miaxwell ; Song—Miles Maugham ; Song—Mr. J. Cowie ; Piano accorI dion solo-—Mr. Gibbins ; Recitation —Mr. R. Lewis. A farewell presentation was made to a member, Mr. Gordon Johnson, | who has enlisted.
