From Our Correspondent at Oruru - Peria

Purely Personal Mrs. J. Pearson has as her guests Miss Lambly of Whangarei and Master Bruce Mclntosh of Kaitaia. Mr. and Mrs. C. Stone and son Bill have returned from a motor tour south. Mr. and Mrs. Kirk have returned after spending the school vacation in the south. Miss Joan Garton is holidaying in Whangarei and Auckland. Institute Birthday Party To celebrate the birthday of the Oruru-Peria Women’s Institute, a dance was held in the Oruru Hall on Anniversary night. The adverse weather conditions did not prevent • the attendance of a large crowd of i merrymakers. After a delectable supper had been served, Mrs. Barriball (the president) made a short speech after which she asked the secretary, Mrs. Walmsley, to light the candles and the youngest member, Miss Eva Maddox, to blow them out. Mr. Tom Downes sang several popular numbers to the accompaniment of a guitar. A monte carlo waltz was won by Mr. Colin Forsythe and partner. Music was supplied by the Peria Native String Band with extras by Miss M. Wrathall and Mr. S. Harris. Mr. R. Maddox was m.c.
