All ladies interested are invited. ☆ ☆ ☆ A. social evening will be held in the Methodist church hall on Wednesday evening, January 25, commencing at 8 p.m. sharp, to honour Mr. Rhys Williams on the occasion of his approaching marriage. ☆ ☆ ☆ Methodist Note and Silver Tree The financial result of the Methodist Church’s Concert and Note and Silver Tree held in December was more than satisfactory, a total of £53 15/6 being received for church funds. BIBLE CLASS PICNIC On a recent Saturday the Kaitaia Presbyterian Bible Class and Sunday School and the Awanui Gospel Hall Young People’s Meeting and Sunday School held a combined picnic at Lake Ngatu.

Although the weather was boisterous it was quite warm at the lake, and swimming played a prominent part in the day’s activities. A sports programme was put through in the morning, ably conducted by Mr. Viv Richards. After lunch the Rev. Mr. Scarrow gave a short talk, using a sand castle to illustrate his remarks. At the end of the day the large crowd of picnickers returned home tired but happy. METHODIST CIRCUIT MEETING The recent quarterly meeting of the Mangonui Methodist Circuit was held in the Fairburn church. Rev. H. Whitfield presided over a good attendance of officials. The quarterly balance sheet, presented by the Circuit stewards, showed a satisfactory credit. High appreciation was expressed to the Ladies’ Guilds at Kaitaia, Fairburn, Oruru and Mangonui for the success of their respective financial efforts held during the past quarter. The transport question was reviewed and a Committee was appointed to consider the propositions received. Collectors were appointed at various preaching places, to wait on those interested for financial assistance towaids the cost of transport. Mr. Arthur Tracey and Mr. J. Walton were elected Circuit Stewards for the ensuing year. It was agreed that no morning service be held in the Fairburn church on January 22nd, but an invitation be extended to all to attend a reception

service of new members at 11 a.m. j in the Kaitaia Methodist Church, j when Rev. Howard Matthews 1 of Ruawai will assist in the service. Mr. H. Parker gave a brief report of his visit as representative to Synod.

Rev. Howard Matthews is to be asked to represent the Circuit at the Christchurch conference in February. Dates were arranged for the forthcoming harvest festivals in the various preaching places. It was agreed to hold the annual circuit banquet at Oruru, date to be arranged. After other routine business the meeting closed, when the ladies handed round refreshments.
