POLITICAL CHICANERY
Sir.—Being a keen student of politics, I have voted at 21 general elections in N.Z., and have never known so much political chicanery as that now demoralising and degrading citizens by the impolitic party system. Nor seen the astonishing extent of money distributed amongst the rich men’s friends ; our patient forbearance to money servitude has been phenomenal. Nor have I seen so many writers to the daily press afraid to sign their names ; and I am now accused of making “wild statements” by one who snipes at opponents from the shelter of the Editor’s sanctum. These poli-
tical snipers are adept at getting away before retaliation by the fire of those they have maligned. My statements ; j made from personal experience and impressions formed from literatui , and that is my reply to the surprising “wild Cockatoo” that fouls its own nest. 1 will again respectfully appeal to my farming confreres to vote for the wise statesmen, who, by their fruits have conclusively proved they are, if only by the political exigencies of a three years’ tenure of the Treasury Benches, and always will be, the only i'i lends cf the working producers. Experience teaches wisdom to the wise. Yours, etc., WILLIAM R. KEAY.
