The fifth international conference on locust plagues opened at Brussels on August 25. Sixteen lxxother countries and twelve colonies wei’e represented. ☆ ☆ ☆ This is a tale of the Australian Never-Never country, whei’e thei’e is always a drought somewhere. At one station the drought had been so pi’Olonged that the horses had never seen rain; they had always been watered from a small ai’tesian spring. Finally the drought broke and the land was flooded overnight. In the morning the horses wei’e discovered swimming frantically about—searching vainly for their spi’ing to get a drink, of course!
