Fill an old pipe with “full-flavoured,’ offer him a light and tell him to make himself comfortable. He won’t be comfortable long !—and will probably not smoke again for years. It’s rum, but some men never learn to smoke ; others have to serve a sort of apprenticeship to smoking. But once acquired what pleasure and joy the habit gives ! But avoid brands that cause discomfort and upset you. They are too full of nicotine. The safest of all tobaccos are the toasted ones. Toasting helps to free them of nicotine and give them their delicious flavour and beautiful bouquet, and whether you fill up with Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Riverhead Gold or Desert Gold, you’ll get the purest sweetest, most fragrant and soothing smoke you ever had and the least harmful.
