This report was approved by the Board and he is to be asked to request the boarding house keepers to carry out the recommendations in his report. Waikuruki Bridge Replying to the Town Board, the Highway Board stated that as the Waikuruki Bridge has been repaired it is considered to be serviceable for some years to come. Subsidence on Highway The Highway Board writing to the Kaitaia Town Board, stated that after an inspection it had been ascertained that the subsidence on the highway near Hester’s had not increased during the past 18 months. The poplars that had been planted to avert further erosion appeared to be adequate while as a safe guard to the travelling public white posts are being erected on the edge of the road. Sunray Park “Some difficulty is being experienced with Mr. L. H. Bell with regard to the removal of the fencing on Sunray Park,” wrote the Commissioner of Crown Lands in reply to a request by the Kaitaia Town Board that the transfer of the Park to the Board be expedited. “Mr. Bell,” continued the letter, “was asked to remove the fence if lie could not agree to the Price offered by your Board. It seems that his signature wiil not be given to the transfer until the question of the fencing is cleared up.”
Sealing State Highway The Highway Board will probably seal the unsealed section of the State Highway through Kaitaia when the road to Awanui is being sealed. This road is now being prepared for sealing but it is not likely that the road will be in a fit state this year.
