At the Theatre

AWANUI TALKIES SATURDAY 21st Hollywood’s lavish resources have been drawn upon to the limit in regard to production, cast and other details, for the production from Sir James Barrie’s great story, “The Little Minister", starring Katharine Hepburn, to be screened at Awanui on Saturday. This is perhaps Miss Hepburn’s greatest starring vehicle. TUESDAY 24th (Xmas Eve)

Out of the dynamic, present-day scene of industrial strife, and the attendant conviction that the leisure, pleasureseeking class is on the wane, there has been fashioned a stirring romantic drama called “Mills of Gods”, for Awanui on Tuesday, Christmas Eve. May Robson heads the stellar cast.

XMAS NIGHT The Awanui talkies have the distinction of obtaining the first screening in New Zealand of the master production “The Path of Love”, dealing with the life of St. Francis of Assisi, this to be shown on Christmas night. The story of a man who left wealth for a life of poverty and sacrifice, is vividly told. There will also be the screening of “Beautiful Tasmania”, the official picture of the Government of Tasmania. THURSDAY (Boxing Day) “Merry Wives of Reno”, the picture which gives a humourous slant on thedoings in the world’s famous divorce colony, is the feature attraction at A wanui on Thursday, Boxing night. Margaret Lindsay, Glenda Farrell and Ruth Donnelly are the three merry wives who romp to Reno.
