Quarterly Meeting of Methodic Church
The quarterly meeting: of Mangonut Methodist (Circuit was held at Fairburn last Monday evening, Rev. E. D. Patchett, ciiair'ma.h of district, presiding. Thei'e“was a good'attendance of officials representing various parts of the circuit. The quarterly balance sheet presented by the stewards was considered satisfactory. The speoial efforts shortly to be held in Fairborn and Oruru are creating widespread interest. Membership returns foj the yeay shosped an increase. Sunday schools and Bible classes reports were satisfactory.
A unanimous invitation, extended to Rev. and Mrs. A. J. Johnston, to. remain, a third year was accepted, Rev, Patchett giving it his hearty support. Rev. Johnston thanked all for .their hearty co-op-eration which made his work such a pleasure. A representative was appointed for the District Synod which opens on November'2o in Auckland. Motions of sympathy were passed tq Mr! arid lire. S. Buckingham and Mr. J. T. Wirfiam's, whose families have suffered bereavements. It wps unanimously agreed that a letter of cheer and sympathy be sent to Mr. C. Parker senr. in his illness.
After other business of a routine nature the meeting closed, the ladies providing refreshments.
The Presbyterian Church Ladies, held a bobbin afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. F. MacKenzie on Wednesday, the afternoon being spent in games and competitions. Mrs. A. Logan won the qubits while Mrs. A. Morice won one competition and Mrs. W. Woodall another. A greatly appreciated item was given by Mrs. H. Head. .
