ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Kaitaia Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday afternoon, when Mrs. W. Geard presided over a fair attendance of members. Report andl Balance Sheet In the annual report presented by the president.it was stated that the previous show had been fairly successful. An appeal was made for more members, as the membership of the society was not increasing to the extent that it should. The show during the afternoon was well patronised, but the attendance in the evening was far short of that of previous shows, owing to counter attractions. The president mentioned the loss to the society through the death of Mrs. J. T. Clark, one of the strongest workers for the society. In conclusion the president thanked the stewards for their good work on the day of the show, and all the members of tbe committee for their support during the year. , The balance sheet submitted by the secretary, Mr. W. H. Farrimond, showed the year's activities of the society had resulted in a small credit balance after the paymeut for extra tables. The door takings had shown a decline of nearly £4 while the prize money was £5 more than the previous year. Members’ subscriptions had shown a slight increase. The report and balance sheet were both adopted after little discussion. Election of Officers The following officers were elected for the coming year:— President —Mrs. A. General A number of new members were nominated. It was decided to alter the wording of Rule 2 to remove the ambiguity, and the rule now reads that the subscription admits to the show tbe member, wife or husband, and family under the age of 14 years. It was decided to hold a street stall in Kaitaia on Monday August 12, the day of the annual meeting of the Kaitaia Dairy Coy. The annual ball of the Society is to be held on Thursday September 19. A card afternoon is also to be held late in August. An executive meeting to prepare the schedule is to be held in the afternoon of Friday August 16.
