Wedding

CLIFFORD - MATTHEWS A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Saviour’s church, Kaitaia, on April 30th, when Elsie Vivienne, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Matthews of Awanui, was married to Noel Miles, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifford of Remuera, Auckland. The Rev. Blackwood Moore officiated and Mrs. F. Holder played the wedding march. The dainty bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a charming frock of ivory satin beaute moulded to the figure and fully flared from the knees. Her veil of embroidered tulle was prettily arranged with a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a beautiful sheaf of white chrysanthemums, dahlias, maidenhair and asparagus fern. Hanging from the centre of the sheaf was a lucky horseshoe of ivory satin with a sprig of orange blossom worn by her mother 40 years ago. Miss Daphne Subritzky attended her cousin and wore a pretty frock of shell pink satin beaute and headdress of pink tulle and rosebuds. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mr. Lionel Gallagher, of Kaitaia, carried out the duties of bestman. After the ceremony relatives and a few friends were entertained at the residence of Mrs. Baden Beard, Awa-

nui, sister of the bride, who wore a smart frock of navy marocain. The table was artistically decorated with white and pink chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The centre of attraction was a beautiful three-decker wedding cake. The happy couple left

by car on their honeymoon amidst showers of confetti. The bride travelled in a light navy tailored costume.
