Women's Division
Tlie annual meeting of the Knitaia Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmer’s Union was held on April 20th, there being a good attendance of members present. The report and balance sheet were read and confirmed, and general business was dealt with. Officers elected for the coming year were:— President—Mrs. D. H. Lewis. Vioe-Presidents—Mesdames A. MacKenzie, A. Powell and J. May. Secretary—Mrs. L. Pettit. Treasurer—Mrs. W. Parker. Committee—Mesdames W. Geard, R. Wild, J. Sowter, H. Parker and A. Wilkinson. Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Pettit were appointed to represent the branch at the conference to he held at Ohaeawai on May 2nd. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr. Atkins for auditing the books and to Mr. and Mrs. Foster for the use of their rooms and their many kindnesses to members. Mrs. Buckle gave a short hut interesting report on the work done by the W.D.F.U. housekeepers during the year. Housekeepers are always available and Mrs. Buckle will be pleased to give all information regarding them. The fourth birthday of the branch will be held in the Parish hall on the evening of Wednesday May 23rd instead of May 22nd as previously arranged. All members and their families are invited to attend, tli 3 evening will take the form of an old time dance. Members are asked to note that the monthly meeting will beheld on May 21st as usual. Mrs. E, Parker was the lucky winner of a dressed fowl donated by Mrs. Lewis, and afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the committee.
