MANGONUI
The school committee election for the main Mangonui Township School district, passed off very quietly which is quite unusual for this annual event; probably the inclemency of the weather accounted for the peacefulness of the event, only about fifty householders being present and the retiring committee who were again nominated, were returned unopposed. The Chairman’s report of the year’s operations was received with applause and the committee was complimented on the good work accomplished. The jubilee of the school will be celebrated on Monday, July 2 and it promises to be a great day, the good ladies present at the meeting, intending doing all they can to make the occasion a marked historic event. It is hoped that there will be a large gathering of the old pupils, who will come from all parts of the Dominion. Many of the noted professional, commercial and civic leaders, with also a number holding high ranks in the public service of the Dominion were old boys of the Mangonui School and the gathering should be on a that the township might well be proud of.
