KAITAIA

At the annual meeting of Householders at Kaitaia on Monday evening, there were over 50 present and a keen interest was shown in the affairs of the school and committee. The Rev. W. H. Nicholas acted as Chairman of the meeting. The following report on the activities of the school during the past year was tabled by the committee Chairman, Mr. F. B, Rowe. The statement of receipts and expenditures tabled by the treasurer, Mr. F. Donaldson, showed that the committee, to carry out needed works had to spend in anticipation of their future capitulation. In respond to a question the treasurer stated that there were no other funds held by the committee than appeared on the statement, it being also explained that the audited copy was not as yet back from the Education Board. Various other questions relating to the cocoa fund and loan accounts were answered by the committee Chairman and treasurer. Mr. F. B. Rowe stated that with the sanitary scheme suggested, the committee would have to find a third of the cost. A resolution was carried recommending that in future statements of accounts presented to Householders’ meetings, a statement of all funds, whether held by the committee or by the teachers, be included. The Headteacher, Mr. Woods, gave a statement of the position of the various funds raised by the teachers for school purposes. A discussion took place on the school jubilee next year and various helpful suggestions especially from the ladies, were put forward as to the raising of funds for jubilee celebrations.
