Elsewhere in this issue appears an intimation by the Unemployment Board that on Ist May the usual quarterly instalment of the general unemployment levy will become due, and that on the same date the first instalment of the emergency unemployment charge of 1/ in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31st March, 1934, will be due. A declaration of such income must be furnished some time in May. It has been found that many men who have not received income “other than salary or wages” do not consider they are called upon to make a declaration, but the law requires that such men must make a “nil” declaration.
