Kaitaia District High School Sports

School Sports Staged at Kaitaia an Outstanding Success Last Thursday the Kaitaia District High School Sports were held on the school sports ground, the fixture proving an unqualified success. The organisation reached a very high standard, over 170 races being run in under four hours. The ground had been well prepared for the day by the school staif, the senior boys and members of the school committee, and was in good order for the races. Assisting the school staif on the committee were Messrs. J. B. Reynolds, J. L. Moyes and W. Perkins as judges, J. Sowter who acted as starter, and E. L. Sturmfels as timekeeper, but the credit for the very efficient organisation rests mainly with Mr. Woods, the headteacher, and his very energetic staff. The medals for the senior and junior boy and girl champions were donated by Messrs. J. T. Clark, J. B. Reynolds, M. P. Atkin and K. Knight, while it is intended to present certificates to the placed boys and girls in the various events. About £8 was collected as gate money and by way of donations, there being no expenses attached to the gathering as the committee and officials helped in all possible ways and the Kaitaia Amateur Athletic Club arranged for various small expenditures.
