A fine outing was had at Awanui last week-end by local sportmen when they were visited by a team of clay pigeon shooting enthusiasts from Kaikohe.

Santa Claus arrived at Horsley’s Toy Shop at 11 o’clock to-day and will make a return visit at the same time to-mor-row, Saturday.

The season’s innovation in the greetings telegrams that the Postal Department have brought in this year should be appreciated by those desiring to telegraph greetings to their friends. A supply is now on hand at the various offices and senders have the choice of eight different wordings.

A meeting held last week of residents ofTakahue decided to take steps with the formation of a Domain Board to assume control of the reserve of 4 acres near the Hall. A provisional committee consisting of Mrs. H. Carr, and Messrs B. Bastard, E. Bradley, H. Crene and H. Sanders was appointed, Mr. Sanders acting as secretary pro tern, and this committee is to go into the question of assuming control, and various other matters connected with the reserve.

COMING EVENTS A meeting of the County Council wil) be held on Wednesday next the 20th list.

Next Wednesday, the 20th inst. a Christinas Fair is to be held in the Parish Hall, Kaitaia, the proceeds being in aid of the Anglican Church tunds. There will be plenty of fun for young and old alike.

The Maiigonui Tennis Club will be holding a Carnival Flannel Dance in Harris’ Hall, Maiigonui on Monday, Janary Ist. (New Year’s Night). This club’s previous dapees have all gone with a swing and to finish off New Year’s Day dancers can rely on a good time at this cauival dance.
