REFORM RALLY—A CORRECTION

We have received the following letter from Mr. H. W. Crawford ; “In your report headed ‘Reform Rally at Kaitaia,’ you credit me with rather a sweeping statement regarding the Arbitration Act. The impression I intended to convey was not that the Act should be abolished, but that it should be amended by removing many of the restrictions which to-day were preventing men from getting work. Furthermore I said that in order to balance the budget it might be necessary to increase taxation and reduce state expenditure , which of course included salaries.” We regret that the report conveyed a wrong impression of Mr. Crawford’s meaning, but we find on referring to the notes that our report was correct as to what was actually said. Sale of Work The Ladies’ Guild, in connection with the Kaitaia Presbyterian Church, are to hold a Sale of Work in aid of the building fund next Friday in the A. & P. Hall. Safeguarding Foodstuffs At a Special meeting of the Kaitaia Town Board on Monday, a by-law controlling the manufacture and sale of foodstuffs within the town district was provisionally adopted, and will come up for confirmation at a meeting of the Board on December 14. A notice . appears in our advertising columns.
