Tennis Season Begins
The Mangonui Tennis Club opened the season on Saturday, 17th inst., when there was a good attendance, including visitors from Kohumaru, Taipa and Oruru. The weather was ideal and the court in splendid order. The official opening was conducted by the patron, Mr. W. A. Wilton, who wished the members a successful season. He was sure that all would play the game in the right spirit and for the love of the game only. He paid a tribute to the president, Mr. H. C. Anderson, and the secretary, Mr. C. W. Williams, whom he said were both very enthusiastic and ener-
getic. He mentioned them particularly because he considered that the success of any Club depended largely upon the activities of these officers. At the same time he had no doubt they would be ably assisted by all other officers of the Club. He then asked Mrs. Anderson, wife of the president, to hit the first ball over the net, after which play was indulged in until dusk had fallen, the only break being for afternoon tea which was served by the lady members of the Club.
