Maori Shoots Himself.
AT OROMAHOE. At Oromahoe, on Thursday last, Mr. T. J. Dunlop, Coroner, held an inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death of Harry Takimoana, a native aged 22 years. The evidence went to show that deceased had been keeping company with a young girl aged 16 years and on Wednesday afternoon he called at her residence and asked her to marrry him. The girl refused stating that she was too young. Deceased then told her that it she would not marry him she would see him no more nor would he see her again. He then said good-bye and left for his home. On arrival at his home he said good-bye to his mother and sister and went into the house and after writing a letter to Constable Ryan and his girl, shot himself above the heart with a 12 bore shot gun. The verdict returned was that deceased committed suicide by shooting himself with a shot gun.
