WAIMATE NORTH VICARAGE.
NEARLY ioo YEARS OLD. The vicarageat WaimateNorth is one hundred years old next year and is still in excellent order. It was built by Maori carpenters trained by the early missionaries. It was also the first Bishop’s Court in New Zealand, as Bishop Selwyn lived there for three years. The Rev. J. C. Fussell who took up the charge in July has now settled down in his new parish and has already made himself popular. In addition to its quaint old vicarage and church, Waimate North has some wonderfully old associations with the early Christianity of New Zealand which the Rev. Fussell will enjoy to the full. In order that he may cover the parish efficiently and comfortably the vestry has purchased for his use a nice little car of the “baby” variety, which with the good roads now in the districts suits the purpose admirably.
