CLARKE CUP FINAL
KAIKOHE SUCCESSFUL,
The final of the Clarke Cup Competition was played between Kaitaia and Kaikohe Golf Clubs on the Kaikohe links on Sunday last. After some very evenly contested games Kaikohe proved the superior team, winning both fourball matches and three of the four singles, the other pair returning all square. The links were in excellent playing condition, and this, combined with the good weather made the match most enjoyable,
On handing over the Cup to the Kaikohe Club Captain, Mr, McMillan, President of the Kaitaia Club, complimented him on his team’s success and the true sporting spirit displayed by them. He also expressed thanks for the hospitable manner in which they had been entertained. Following are the results of the games, Kaitaia players being mentioned first in each case : Singles Waddell lost to Heslop 3 and 2. McMillan lost to Ferguson 2 and ' I. Berridge lost to Guerin 3 and I. Salvair and Meyer all square. Fourball Waddell and McMillan lost to Heslop and Ferguson 3 and 2. Berridge and Salvair lost to Guerin and Meyer 2 and I. Following is the draw for the Eclectic Competition to be played on Saturday next. Ladies — Miss Maria v Mrs. Treacher. Mrs. Salvair v Mrs. Wilkinson. Gentlemen— Mr. Wilkinson v Mr, Dale. Mr. Smeaton v Mr. Salvair. Mr. Cleary v Mr. Gallagher.
