GAIETY AT ORURU.
DANCE AND MOCK COURT. FUNDS FOR TENNIS COURT.
Financially and socially the dance and mock court held at Oruru last Friday night to raise funds for the construction of a tennis court at Paranui School was a thorough success. In spite of inclement weather the attendance was excellent, and in the dance music the Rialto Four surpassed themselves.
The holding of a mock court, with Mr. L. J. Matthews on the bench and Constable Parkinson prosecuting, caused much amusement and considerably swelled the proceeds. It was expected the function would clear about £B. A feature of the evening was the singing of Mr. J. Kennedy, a vocalist who has recorded in Australia for Columbia gramophone records.
