WHY NO ATHLETICS ?

ROOM FOR A CLUB. It is a matter for wonder that there is no athletic sports club in Kaitaia. There is ample scope for such a club in the town, catering for all branches of athletics, and it is hard to understand why no such body exists. There is an undeniable need for such a club —it is absolute essential to the welfare of youth —and we hope that little time will elapse before a sports club >comes into existence. The right material is all around us, and men of the right calibre are available for service on the committee of a club. There is at the moment some talk of taking action to form a combined sports body, catering for every branch of sport, and we express the hope that the talk will result in concrete action. To any such move this journal will give whole-hearted support.

There is also room for a club to cater for the interests of motorcyclists. We understand a club which was formed previously I died through lack of inte r est. The failure was more probably due to lack of organisation. Organised on the right lines, keepinterest alive by beach and track events, hill-climbs, reliability runs and organised outings, there is no reason why a motor-cycle club in this county should not be a complete success.
