REP GAME ON SATURDAY DARGAVILLE SHIELD MATCH
After being dormant tor many weeks owing to some clubs being unable to take further part in competition games until February, cricket has been revived locally with keen interest in the “Dargaville Shield” match. On Wednesday last delegates to the Mangonui County Cricket Association met in the Valley, the president, Mr. H. H. Thompson, occupying the chair. _ Northern Wairoa, being unable to participate in a two-days’ match, has challenged Mangonui for the Shield —one day match only—and has suggested Saturday next, February 1, as a convenient date for them. This has been accepted by Mangonui and approved by the N.A.C.A.
The match will eventuate on the Valley wicket, nlav to commence at 9 o’clock and if necessary will continue so long as light permits.
The visiting team is stated to be the strongest eleven that has ever represented Northern Wairoa, and consists of the following :—Broomfield, Searle, Dovle, Williamson, Burke, Fergusson, McTaun, Palmer, Wells, Parore, Rush and Sunberg. Following is the local team—J. Bartley, J. Dawson, W. Dawson, P. Dow, S. Edwards, S. Hansen, A. Panther, J. Penney, W. Thompson, E. White, W. Wrathall, and D. White as twelfth man. The following fixtures have been arranged for the second round in the local competition : February 8. Mangonui v Broadwood at Mangonui. Valley v Kaitaia at Valley. February 15. Mangonui v Kaitaia at Mangonui. Broadwood v Herekino at Broadwood. February 22. Valley v Herekino at Vailey. Kaitaia v Broadwood at Kaitaia March 8. Mangonui v Valley at Mangonui. Herekino v Kaitaia at HerekinoMarch 22. Valley v Broadwood at Valley. Mangonui v Herekino at Mangonui.
