UNDERGROUND STREAMS.

Man} of the scenic wonders of the north receive little notice from the public. A beauty spot, little known to many residents of Kaitaia, is the bush, caves and quarry on the range of hills running parellel with the KaitaiaAwauui read. A reward for negotiating a narrow passage in one of these caves is a fine view bv torchlight of a large number ot stalactites and stalagmites which meet in places forming an upright column.

Underground streams flow through these caves but it is noi known whether there are glowworms.
