Recent Earthquakes.
Road Improvement. Since the great earthquake on June 17 the road between Christchurch and Greymouth has been % impassable, but now that the slips and other damage have been repaired no difficulty is to 1 ben anticipated by motorists. The new Porter-Whitewater bridge has been completed, and the first car was driven across by a resident of the district last The Waimakariri is fordable, and the Arthur’s Pass-Otira Road is in good order. Some of the material is on the gronnd for the bridging of Broken River.
