A Bolting Horse

Rider's Narrow Escape

Miss M Stone, of Kaitaia, had a narrow escape from a serious accident on Sunday last. She was riding a spirited horse home from taking Sunday School on Church Road, when her companion’s horse cantered ahead. Miss Stone’s horse shot ahead to catch up, and ended by bolting, and turning a sharp corner, threw the rider, who had the presence of mind to withdraw her feet from the stirrups, thereby escaping with a severe shaking and slight bruises.
