Kaitaia Golf Club
Moil Successful Year Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Kaitaia Golf Club was held in the Library Hall on Thursday, these present being Mesdames Platten and Wilkinson, Miss M Puckey, Messrs Platten 1 L Hester, T Sulvair, A Wilkinson, G Puckey, J Paulson, E King, M Goldsbro’ and Mason, secretary. In the absence of the President and Vice-President Mr E King was voted to the chair.
The annual report showed the club to be in a strong position financially, the past year being the most successfully yet held a profit of £2l-8-7 was shown on the year’s working. Election of Officers
Patron ; J L Hester. President: F Holder. Vice-Presidents: Mrs A Wilkinson and T S McMillan. Secretary : Mr J Mason.
General Committee: Mesdames Platten, Smeaton, Wilkinson, Messrs L Hester, J Mason, t’ Salvalr, F Holder and A Wilkinson. Match Committee; Messrs Waddel, T Salvair, J Mason, and W Turner.
Club Captain : L Hester. Handicapper: TS McMillan. Auditor: M Goldsbro’. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, April 20th and the subscription the same as last year. The Match Committee is to arrange matches for the season and have match cards printed. The secretary was instructed by resolution, to obtain tin flags, an amendment to use cloth flags being lost. It was agreed to allow the ball to be picked up o ce between each shot and dropped over the shoulder. Speaking in reference to a new club house, Mr Mason stated that the matter had been tully gone into, and it was estimated to cost £l4O for a suitable club hou§e.
The Club Committee were empowered to spend £lO on repairs to the present clubhouse.
A resolution was passed recomending that the Competition Committee provide trophies for junior competitions.
Mr Mason suggested some system of marking each persons golf balls in order that they could be returned to their owners on being found. A resolution on these lines was agreed to. Any person found playing with another persons marked ball will be disqualified from playing on the links for two weeks.
A recommendation was made to the handicapper that the handicapping be done on the return of the score cards.
The Secretary was made an honorary member for his services to the club.
A donation of £lO was voted to Mr JL Hester, for the use of his ground, to be spent on the links as he thinks fit.
Mr E King suggested that a charge of 6d be made to the men for afternoon tea and the money c dlected be spent on trophies for competitions for ladies. Several counter suggestions were put forward and Mr King’s suggestion was finally agreed upon A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the business of the meeting.
