The Northland Age OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE FARMERS’ UNION. Published Twice a Week. Wednesdays and Fridays. Price Twopence. . WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 192 8 OPENING OF PARLIAMENT
The opening of jrarliameut is generally signalled by a lengthy uninteresting debate on the A ddress-in-Reply to the speech from the Throne. It is time this unproductive harangue to the electors ceased. We want morr business in Government and less Government in business. We do not require to hear the weird an 1 in many instances the stupid utterances of Members of Parliament whose only desire is to make the people believe that they understand e cn and every political ailment in the world. The temper of the people to-day is such that if the present methods of politicians ahe continued, an upheaval may easily take place <3t the polls, ihis might result in disaster to many. The welfare of the people is at stake and even though political hirelings must be sacrificed in the process, there is need for a cleansing of the political augean stable. Let it commence with the elimination of ti e lengthy debate and waste of time on the Address in Reply.
