Northland Motor Cycle Sports Club
Successful Meeting at
Awanui
A very successful meeting convened by Mr A Hutley was held in Hutley’s Garage, Awanui, on Thursday night last, when an endeavour was made to form a Northland Motor Cycle Club. It was pointed out that in 1926 a motor cycle club had been in existence here and that thirtyfour members belonged to it. However owing to lack of interest and enthusiasm the club had become defunct. There was however, a credit balance in the bank of £9/7/3. Mr, H. Switzer proposed and Mr. Thompson seconded that a new club be formed in Awanui to be called the Northland Motor Cycle Club. The following officers were elected : Secretary—Mr. H. Switer. Treasurer—Mr. Lister.
Mr. Ron Walker proposed that the subscription be 10/6. The amendment that the sub be 5/- was carried.
A meeting of all motorcycle enthusiasts will be held to-mor-row night in Hutley’s Garage. The new club intends drawing up an attractive programme including hill climbs, races, etc., for the season. It is up to every cyclist to assist in this endeavour to make motor cycling in the Northland popular.
