animals ? Defendant: No, lam not. Mr Thornell: Do you wear a special boot ? Defendant: No, no different from a boot that anyone can buy at the Farmers’ Co-op. Mr Thornell: You don’t have a boot with a nail in the toe to move the cows along ? Defendant: No, certainly not. Mr Thornell: Have you ever had cows fall on the concrete. Defendant: Yes. Mr Thornell: Did you not have a cow fall on the concrete and when she did not get up did you light afire under her. Defendant: Certainly not. The Magistrate after hearing the evidence said there was a very grave doubt about this case and such being the case the defendant was entitled to such doubt. The evidence of the principal witness may have been an exaggerated account of what took place. Defendant’s explanation of what happened was a fairly reasonable explanation of what took place. In these circumstances the information would be dismissed.
