The institute w§»|| will form part of the Mass&ytAga ricultural College at Palmers!' i North, will be under the control of Professor Riddet, and will directly tackle many of t(\e, RCPllems which have given trouble to the induslry for many yeats. Of special interest will be tb“ work in connection with he? i testing. In every district wheja this is carried out, valuable data is obtained, but the benefit of this is lost to farmers by reason of the fact that the testing associations have necessarily to confine themselves to the main work and have no time or cash available for scientific research. The efficiency of various types of milk and cream coolers, and tr als with various systems of pig feeding, will be among the first problems dealt with. Now that the marketing side of the pig business is receiving attention, and more farmers are turning their attention to this profitable sideline, some work to ascertain the most profitable feeding methods is very essential. Every farmer knows that skim milk or whey led alone are not as profitable for rearing as when combined with other foods. The thing they want to know is what foods make the best combinations. This knowledge will be available when the feeding trials are completed.
