Mr. W. R Atkins.
Most Efficient Officer,
Excellent bystem of Books.
Government Auditor’s Tribute,
At the conclusion sf the general business at the Mangonui Hospital Board meeting yesterday the Chairman, Mr T S Houston said: —
“Gentlemen I would like to make a statement which I am sure will please you all very much. I know it pleased me. The statement I am very proud to make is this : In discussing the position of the Board, the Government Auditor, Mr Bates, mentioned that he is very pleased with the way the Hospital business has been carried out during the past year. He says he has never inspected a better set of books in all his experience. This is a matter for congratulation that the Board has such a capable secretary as Mr Atkins and it is also pleasing to know too that the business of the Board is so capably attended to and efficiently carried out. It is a feather in the cap of the Board and it ts a distinct compliment to Mr Atkins. lam sure you will all join with me in congratulating Mr Atkins upon the success he has achieved in carrying out his duties. When the Auditor comes along and goes out of his way to pay such a tribute to our secretary, I think we have every reason to congratulate ourselves on possessing such an efficient secretary. He told tne that he had never inspected a better set of books nor had he ever had a belter audit. This shows that altheugh we are here in the Far North that we ean show better results than many institutions nearer the centres of population.” These remarks were crested with loud applause the members spontaneously congratulating Mr Atkins.
MrG Cosson : I was with our Chairman, when the Auditor made that statement. I endorse what the Chairman has said.
