Kaitaia, August 4, 1927. (To the Editor). Sir, —I trust this letter will be in time for your next issue. I have just read an insane personal attack upon yourself over the flood report which was published in the “Auckland Star.” As I inspected every flooded portion of the districts referred to in your report I want to say that it is correct in every particular. Your report could have gone further and gives greater details without in auy way meriting half the abuse levelled at you. I think it is time the respectable and honourable people in the North demonstrated against the misrepresentations that is indulged in by a certain circle for the purpose of unloading sections at high prices. It is a scandal and is keeping the town back. Your paper is working in the interest ot the ratepayers and they should back you up in every way. I am, etc., Kaitaia. [We are not at all concerned over the criticism our correspondent refers to. It was inspired by interested parties. We do know that anything published which can be purposely misconstrued, is made to appear as an attack on Colonel Bell, M.P. We are working for the benefit of the district generally and not for the aggrandisment of a select few,— Editor “Age.”]
