BACKBLOCK ROADS
The principal object that Colonel Alien M.P had in view in inviting the Minister of Public Works to visit his electorate was to personally bring before him various settlers in the backblocks whose roads had been neglected by his Department, although in many cases unexpended grants had appeared on the estimates for years. About two weeks ago those in the Whangarei and Bay of Islands portion of the electorate were cleared up, and this week Colonel Bell has been advised by the Minister of tire following further authorisations Okaharau road £200; Waimatenui road £6OO (£4OO free) in that portion situated in the Whangarei County and £SOO for the Hobson County section! Wilson's road Pakotai £4OO.
