A CHAMPION BULL

It is of interest to note that Mr. Jesse May’s champion pedigree Jersey bull, Erinview, K.C., is by the show bull Miro Meadow's Buttermaker. His first heifers under test are doing aver 500 lbs butterfat.

Erinview, K.C., is a line bred to the well known champion butterfat bull, K.C.B. His mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother are all direct daughters ot K.C.8., and his breeding consists of much the same blood as the champion butterfat cow, Holly Oak's Annie. His grandmother, on his mother’s side is Primrose 33rd, same dam as Golden Fox, which has several daughters averaging 600 lb butterfat. Erinvisw’s K.C. breeding therefore consists of much the same biood as Holly Oak’s Annie, tho champion butterfat cow—los6 lbs butterfat, K.C.B. Monoply and Primrose.

The champion pedigree Jersey cow Tiny Dot’s Idol is by Meadowvale Munster, a son of champion butterfat bull Sunflower Perseus Meadowvale Munster, dam Erin's Lone Star has a C.O.R. 10,386 lb milk, 614 lb butterfat. Tiny Dot’s Idol’s dam is by Magnet’s Lad. This bull is line bred to Magnet’s Boy. Pretty’s Flirt, 1010 lb butterfat, and several 700 and 800 lb butterfat cows are descended from this bull. Tiny Dot’s Idol was specially selected by Mr. R. L. Horn, “Ku Ku,” Ohaw, to mate with Erinview, K.C.

The first prize bull calf Otepu Surprise is by the imported bull Leonard’s Wonder,.his dam Jessy of La Charse being the highest cow tested on Jersey Island in 1923 when she was purchased by the world’s famous breeder, Mr. Cooper. His mother, Ribbonwood Jewel, was got by Oakland’s Paddy, a son of the prize winning bull Miro Meadow’s Paddy, a grandson of K.C.B. Mr. May, who is now becoming noted as a Jersey breeder, secured three firsts, two championships, two ribbons and cup, and one second at the recent Kaitaia Show. A big performance, surely.
