11,186 lbs. of Butterfat from 27 Mixed COWS on Land topdressed with SUPERPHOSPHATE Profitable Feeding. High Herd Production. A herd of 27 raUnri dairy cows, owned by Mr. F. H. Bell, Walntana, Bay of Plenty, gave a fine return IRSt reason. They produced 11,1861 b. of butterfat. an average at 41411> each. As supplementary feed they were fed on eight aeres of turnips, carrots, mangels, and chou moulller. The land was of excellent quality and the pasture was topdressed with 2jcwt. of superphosphate annually. Mr. Bell attributed the performance of the cows to the fact that they were well fed and well looked after. The clipping reproduced above was taken from the “New Zealand HeraldH of Friday, August 7th, 1925. Note that the cows were of “very ordinary quality”; that they cost their owner lass than £lO each; that the land was top-dressed with 2|cwL of Superphosphate annually, and that the farmer attribued the performance of the cows to the fact that they were “well fed.” This is yet another tribute to the enormous value of Superphosphate as a fertiliser.
