KAITAIA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The Kaitaia School Committee met on Monday the 9th instant. Attention is being paid to sports at the school, now that the cricket pitch is finished. Cricket bats and balls are being purchased for the boys. Tennis Courts are being made in good order and racquets and balls are being purchased for the use ot the scholars. Unlortunately, the head master had to report ttm very bad attendance of scholars. It was felt that pirents did not give this matter the serious attention that it warrants. Application was made for a student teacher, that is, a teacher | with two year’s experience to be appointed at the school after (. hristmas. 1 Pians for general beautifying i of school grounds were discussed. Mr. T. Sdlv.iir handed in a | cheque for £lO/10/- proceeds of ! the children’s fancy dress ball | and a vote of thanks was passed. | This money will go towards gen- | eral school improvements. Although not required to do so, : Mr. Slane generously offered to I Ot vote two hours on week nights I ini instruction of pupils who have ■secured their proficiency and are 1 unable to attend High School but j who wish to pursue their studies beyond the school limits. I A vote of thanks was passed to the “Age” for free advertisements in connection with the recent children’s ball, assistance which had assisted toward the success of the function.
