NORTHLAND PICTURES.
PROGESSIVE SCHEME. Satisfied with future prospects, the proprietors of the Northland Hall have decided to embark on a scheme of improvements to the hall which should add considerably to the comfort of patrons, besides being 'an improvement to the business portion of the town. The scheme includes the extending of theatre to the footpathi the full width of the section being taken up, the addition to contain two stories, the ground floor being occupied by up-to-date shops and a large vestibule, which will contain the stairway giving direct entrance to the gallery, which will contain 100 additional seats. Special electric lighting will be arranged, and the new operating box will have space for two biographs to enable the operator to screen continuosly. The new part of the building will have a mngh cast finish. When completed the frWt of the theatre will have quite a city appearance, with its neatly designed parapet and suspended awning. The need for enlargement emphasises the growing popularity of the Northland Pictures—admitted to be one of the best conducted country theatres in the Dominion, its first class progrrmmes and excellent music being outstanding features. The planot building improvements reflects 4Mredit on the enterprise of the proprietors, who deserve support for their consideration of patrons’ comfort. The strong probability that even this snlargement will, in a snort while, prove vtoo small for requirements, has not been lost sight of, for with a view to future needs provision has been made to widen the theatre its fuil length. The proprietors are not content to just "jog” along but tntend to leave nothing undone to continue providing hrst dal' entertainments.
