FAREWELL PRESENTATIONS.

TO MR. R. A. ANDERSON. On Wednesday afternoon, May 10th, a pleasant little gathering was held in MrR. B. Morpeth’s office. The occasion was the making of a presentation to Mr. R. A. Anderson, late manager of the local branch of the Farmers’ Union Trading Company, who is leaving for the King Country, on transfer. There were over twenty gentlemen present, nearly all business or professional men of the town. Mr. W. H. Farrimond, who described himself as a business rival of Mr. Anderson, occupied the chair, and spoke in very high terms of their guest. He had been a good business man and a good citizen—in short a man they could ill afford to lose from their midst. He presented Mr. Anderson, on behalf of the business men of the town and friends, with a cheque, which he begged him to accept as a tangible proof of their good will. Messrs. R. B. Morpeth (Manager, Farmers’ Co-op.), Crisp (Bank of Australasia), Revd. W. Elliott, Pollock (Editor, “Age”) and L. H. Bell (Bell & Matthews) also spoke in terms of warm praise of Mr. Anderson.

Mr. Anderson feelingly replied, and spoke of his regret in leaving the North, with its beautiful climate. He thanked his friends for their handsome present, and hoped to be amongst them again some day.
