A RECORD IN OVEN BUILDING.

Messrs Steed & Wagener, Bakers, of Waiharera, have just had completed the most up to date Bakers’ Oven in the Mangonui County. The Builder, Mr Edward Coveney, of the Dominion Board, Auckland, established an Australasian record in erecting it. The Oven, which is to bake 250 two pound loaves, was built in 10 y 2 days. Some idea of the rapidity with which the work was carried out can be obtained when our readers come to see the amount of material that was used in the erection of the Oven. In all there were 10,000 Bricks, 800 Firebricks, 14 Serge blocks, 3 Arches, 60 Oamaru Stones, 45 bags lime. 10 Bags cement, 10 yds Stone, 8 yds Shell, 14 yds Sand, 5 nine inch pipes, 10 cwt ironwork. So that the go slow policy so common amongst tradesmen in our days is certainly not a feature that Mr Coveney and his able assistant, Mr Syd Mclvor, believe in. And furthermore we have it from Messrs Steed and Wagener that they are more than satisfied with the manner in which the work has been carried out.
